A weekend in Belgium, that sounds fun. The Belgian Kempen are located in the north not far from the Netherlands. It is a very beautiful region, so we have arranged a weekend in September for you.
We will start on Friday evening, September 20, with the arrival at the hotel at Grobbendonk from 5 p.m. onwards. The hotel has spacious, beautiful rooms. Friday evening will start with dinner at the hotel and before and after that the bar will, of course, be open.
What will the rest of the weekend look like?
Saturday
After breakfast on Saturday we’re leaving for Lier, the location of Abarth Museum. Unfortunately, due to renovations, we cannot view the entire collection, but that should not spoil the fun. That day we can admire the most beautiful specimens (about 150).
After our museum visit lunch will be at a restaurant in Lier. From there we’ll drive to Lichtaert where we will visit Het Eersselshof, a very young wine estate with a guided tour through the vines a taste of all the goodies in the Tasting Room.
Then we’ll drive back to the hotel for Saturday evening dinner, preceded and followed by a nice get-together at the bar.
Sunday
On Sunday, after breakfast, our suitcases will have to be packed again and then we’ll drive to Essen (still in Belgium) for a visit to the Cart Museum. The last lunch will take place after a short drive at a restaurant just next to the Kalmthout Heide.
After lunch everyone is free to do whatever they want. A walk in the Kalmthoutse Heide perhaps or in the heart of Antwerp are the most logical options, but everyone is free in this of course.
What will it cost?
The hotel (including both dinners) will cost you €570 (Double Room) or €370 (Single Room). You must reserve the room yourself by sending an email to the hotel (exact instructions can be found in the announcement email). Paying for the room at the hotel must be done by yourself as well.
You must also register for the weekend via the website. Members pay €97.50, non-members €100.50 per person for the weekend. Please note, the number of single rooms is limited, so if you can share a room with another participant, it will be cheaper for you. Unfortunately, we cannot help you find a roommate.
You can indicate allergies, menu choices and vegetarian options on the special registration form, which will be sent to you after you have registered via the registration page.
What do you get for your money?
Two nights with breakfast and two dinners (including drinks at the table) at the hotel, access to the Abarth museum, 2-course lunch at the restaurant in Lier, tour and tasting at the Eerselshof wine estate. Entrance to the cart museum in Essen and 2-course lunch iat the restaurant near Kalmthoutse Heide.
At the restaurant in Lier, water and coffee/tea are included in the price and in the restaurant near Kalmthoutse Heide one drink (soft drink/beer/wine) is included in the price.
All other drinks at the hotel bar and in the restaurants are at your own expense.
The weekend will take place from September 20 to 22, 2024 in Kempen (Grobbendonk) Belgium!
You can register no later than Sunday 30 June via the registration page, but don’t wait too long to reserve your room. Again: you do this by sending an email to the hotel stating the reservation code as stated in the announcement email.
When paying to the GCCC, do not forget to mention that it concerns the weekend in the Kempen.
Hopefully we’ll see you there!
