You wouldn’t say so with the weather we’ve been having a few weeks ago, but the height of
summer is on its way! And that means only one thing: The Picnic Ride!
We know the destination: the farm in Leidschendam, where this year we can go for the 21st time.
Following an almost annual tradition, Ben is taking charge of this ride. How he manages to find a new angle for this ride every time is a mystery to us, the board, but he managed this time as well.
So don’t delay, because on Sunday, July 26, we will once again be taking our homemade pies, sandwich
es, cold chicken, stuffed tomatoes, and eggs (there are other options, including for baking those yourself) along in our classic or modern classic cars. We will drive to picturesque Lisse practically before dawn (we are expected between 10:00 and 10:30 AM!!).
Keukenhof
There, near Keukenhof, we will be welcomed with coffee/tea and a piece of cake to start the day off right. If the name Keukenhof rings a bell, that is entirely justified. Every spring, Keukenhof Estate is probably almost the most photographed place on earth when the tulip bulbs are in bloom. We will miss the latter in midsummer, but that does not make the estate any less beautiful.
Ride to Leidschendam
From there, we will depart around 11:30 AM for a delightful ride of just under two hours to Leidschendam, where we will be welcomed with open arms in the garden once again.
Dutch Glory
But that is not all, of course; this year, too, we are not shy about giving this drive a theme, and it has become: Dutch Glory! So, it will be a matter of dusting off all those orange items from that sporting event again, and this is not limited to the clothing (Where is that milkmaid costume again?), but also extends to the food brought along and, above all: The Car.
There is indeed a bottle of Dutch wine waiting for anyone bringing a Dutch car (scale 1:1, we will verify this), because with a theme like ‘Dutch Glory’, we can’t show up with something as vulgar as French champagne. There are even two(!) bottles of wine waiting for anyone bringing a Spyker.
What does it cost?
The price for the ride, including coffee and cake, is € 15 p.p. for members and € 18 p.p. for guests.
And our four-legged friends?
Your faithful companion is also welcome, provided they are well-behaved and on a leash.
Get your apron out!
So do your best: bake, roast, and/or order your dishes as needed, give your decorations (of your display, yourself, your vehicle) a wild twist, but the most important thing is, of course, to make it a fun day and enjoy yourself.
Register
So sign up via the registration form. You can do so until Sunday, July 19 at the latest. This ride has been registered under the event regulations.
When registering, you can now also indicate whether you wish to ride along with someone or if someone can ride with you. If you choose this option, you agree that your contact details will be shared with other solo drivers, so that you can arrange in advance to ride together.
